Why Beacon's Creche?
Our Childcare Centre is called “Beacons” for a reason. Our mission is to embody the qualities of a beacon – inspiration, warmth, guidance, and support. Our dedicated staff, families, and children all work together to achieve this ideal and make it a reality. We are proud to offer exceptional programs that instill in children a sense of belonging, responsibility, independence, and kindness.
We aim to help children become true beacons themselves, embodying these qualities. We provide continuous learning experiences and encourage them to engage in activities that give back to their communities. Additionally, visits from community helpers further enhance their learning.
We know that children inspire us to find calmness in chaos. Therefore, we strive to create a sense of belonging for children and recognize them as valuable contributors to their environment. At our center, we value play, inquiry, and mutual sharing, guided by the values of a bright guiding light. We also appreciate our families’ diverse perspectives and strive to incorporate them into our childcare programs.

Regulations and Ratios
Our Centre is licensed under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 of the Ministry of Education. It is required to meet all regulations of this act and the Health and Fire Regulations of the City of Ottawa.
Our core program is licensed to accommodate children in two (2) different groups as follows:
Toddlers: • Seedlings (18 months to 2.5 years old) with a ratio of 5 children to 1 educator
• Sprouts (2.5 to 3.5 years old) with a ratio of 5 children to 1 educator
Preschoolers: • Explorers (3 to 4 years old) with a ratio of 8 children to 1 educator
• Adventurers (4 to 5 years old) with a ratio of 8 children to 1 educator

At Beacons’ Crèche and Preschool, we strive to provide a nurturing, inclusive learning environment for children aged 18 months to five years. Our child-led, adult-supported approach fosters creativity, confidence, and lifelong learning. Our programs encourage exploration and play to promote development while ensuring safety and security.
